Objective: To observe the refractive results after implantation of Verisyseiris-claw phakic IOL for high myopia. To explore the changes of stereopsis vision inmyopia patients of anisometropia after doing Verisyse iris-claw phakic intraocularlens implantation, and research its relative factors. To evaluate the clinical applyingvalue of Verisyse iris-claw IOL on stcreopsis vision of myopic anisometropiapatients. To evaluate intraocular dimensions of the anterior segment of myopic phakic eyes afterimplantation of iris-fixated lenses. Methods: From January 2005, 45 eyes in 26 patients and followed-up 30 eyesin 18 patients with (-16.39±0.97) diopters(D) of myopia, (-2.38±0.32)D ofastigmatism were implanted. Assayed the stcreopsis vision, naked vision, correctedvision, diopter, contrast sensitivity and 4 cases of myopic anisometropia before andafter the operation of Verisyse iris-claw IOL. Used the Titmus Wirt test stcreogram toobserve short distance stereopsis vision. Eighteen myopic eyes that received a iris-fixatedphakic intraocular lens (PIOL) were assessed. Distances between the cornea and the IOL-opticedge and between the PIOL optic and the crystalline lens were evaluated using Scheimpflugphotography 3 months postoperatively. Results: All of 30 eyes were implanted successfully and have beenfollowed-up for 3 months. 27%of eyes achieved uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA)≥1.0, 33%of eyes achieved the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA)≥1.0, 66.7%postoperative near vision had been improved. The post-operative BCVA of every eyewas not worse than the pre-operative one. The mean refractive diopters were -16.39±0.97 D pre-operatively and -1.06±0.35 D post-operatively. There were nosignificant differences between pre operative and 3 months postoperative meancounts of endothelial cells, mean intraocular pressure and anterior chamber depth(P<0.05), respectively. The naked vision of myopic anisometropia increased after theoperation. All the patients got short distance stereopsis vision after Verisyseiris-claw IOL, and the stereopsis vision after operation was higher than that beforeoperation. Contrast sensitivity from patients improved at all spatial frequencies, espeeially the contrast sensitivity day without glare at 3cpd and 6 cpd. The averagepostoperative distance between the central corneal endothelium and the anterior suiface of thePIOL was 1.95±0.24 mm. The distance between the corneal endothelium and the peripheral edgeof the IOL averaged 1.50±0.11 mm at the 12 o'clock position and 1.55±0.18mm at the 6 o'clockposition. The distance between the crystalline lens and posterior surface of the PIOL averaged0.76±0.13 mm.Conclusion: The implantation of Verisyse iris-claw phakic IOL for high myopiais safe and effective, which still need a long period time to observe in clinic. Theoperation of Verisyse iris-claw phakic intraocular lens implantation can ameliorateand accelerate the formation of the ability of stereopsis vision, which can correctanisometropia, and its therapeutic eficacy deserves to confirm.
