Objective Glomerulosclerosis(GS) is the same effects which is caused by many reasons after glomeroli injury. The pathophysiological basis is the unbalanced of two sort factors which affect the Extracelluar Matrix(ECM). The disorder of lipid metabolism is a danger factor to GS. This study is to observe the effect of of Fluvastatin in adriamycin(ADR)-induced nephropathic rats. Methods The 45 male rats were randomly divided into three groups:normal control group(A),non-treated nephropathy group(B),Fluvastatin-treated group(C).The rats from group B,C were injected twice with adriamycin (3 mg/ kg) through tail vein. After one week, the rats from group C were gatric-perfused with Fluvastatin every day. We examine 24-hour urinary protein excretion and blood biochemical analyses. Every 4 weeks,we cut rats in each group to do kidney histological study. The expression of MMP-9 in renal tissues were measured with immunohistochemical method. Results Compared with group B, group C had lower serum lipid and 24-hour urinary protein excretion and higher expression MM P-9 in renal tissues. Conclusion Fluvastatin not only can decrease lipid and 24-hour urinary protein excretion in adriamycin-induced nephropathic rats, but also retard chronic progressive kidney damage by increasing expression of MMP-9 in renal tissues.
