Objective to discuss the effect of lymphatic target chemotherapy with carbon nanoparticles absorbing 5-FU on the apoptosis index (AI) of metastatic lymph nodes, gastric carcinoma tissues, and the nomal gastric tissues.Method to divide 28 gastric carcinoma patients who were in hospital from Oct 2005 to Aug 2006 at the Common Surgery Section of West China Hospital into two groups: the chemotherpy group and the control group. The chemotherapy group had operated after the lymphatic target chemotherapy with carbon nanoparticles absorbing 5-FU; on the other hand, the control group had operated directly. The Tunel-AP method is used to detect the apoptosis index of gastric carcinoma tissues, metastatic lymph nodes, and the nomal gastric tissues after the operation.Result The apoptosis index (AI) of gastric carcinoma tissues and metastatic lymph nodes in the chemotherapy group is 16.50±3.70 and31.29±4.87 ; and the AI of gastric carcinoma tissues and metastatic lymph nodes in the control group is4.32±2.53 and 6.11±2.01. As the result shows, the AI of gastric carcinoma tissues and metastatic lymph nodes in the lymphatic target chemotherapy group is higher than that in the control group. The disparity between two groups is of statistical significance (P <0.05). Meanwhile, the AI of nomal gastric tissues in the lymphatic target chemotherapy group is 12.54±3.10%; and the AI of nomal gastric tissues in the control group is 13.30±3.88% . There is no significant disparity between the apoptosis indexes in two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Lymphatic Target Chemotherapy with Carbon Nanoparticles Absorbing 5-FU can raise the apoptosis index of gastric carcinoma tissues and metastatic lymph nodes, and has no obvious effect on the normal gastric tissues.
