Objective: To evaluate the long-term results of TU-RBt andpartial cystectomy in treating superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Methods: 95 cases of initial superfical transitionalcell carcinoma of the bladder from Jan 1996 to Jul 20-04 were followed up ,which included 51 cases of partial cystecto-mygroup (P group) and 44 cases of TURBt group (T group). Results: The time to the first recurrence of the two groups were 17.38±7.35 months and 27.56±22.21 months , the 1 ,2 ,3 ,5 -year tumor recurrence rates were 78.43%, 54.90 %, 27.45 %, 3.92 % in P group and 78.41%, 52.28 %, 25.65%, 2.27 in T group (P>0.10). Conclusions: There was no significant difference by TURBt or partial cystectomy in treating superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The advantagesof TURBt wereless trauma, less complication and repeatedly performable process, TURBt should be used as the first choice.
