On the basis of the view that the nature of the Chinese herb Zhishi is warm, the subject uses the method of traditional Chinese medicine and firstly applies modern pharmacological method, in order to further observe and confirm the nature of Zhishi with the purpose of providing the basis for clinical application and research of the nature of the Chinese herb. The study consists of two groups, the literature and the experiment.PartⅠ, collect and collate Zhishi clinical application literature of ancient and modern, formulate the principles of inspection, and compare the clinical applications between cold and heat therapy of Zhishi. The result shows that, Zhishi is most used to treat hot disease, followed by cold and heat combination, at least cold syndrome, and thus guess that Zhishi is cold. Considering Zhishi can be used to treat cold syndrome, the subject gives the premises that bitter-and-cold medicine strongly clears up waste together with warm-or-hot medicine, and bitter-and-cold medicine can prevent heat resulting from permanent cold.Part II, the experimental study selects Huangqi and Dangshen heat rat model and Zuojinwan as a control group, detects TNF-αand IL-6 levels in rat serum by radioimmunoassay, and meanwhile observes pathological changes in rat stomach, and measures body weight, stomach weight and stomach acid value. The experimental data indicate that, compared with the normal, the stomach tissue and serum TNF-α, IL-6 of model rats significantly change, and it is suggested that Zhishi and Zuojinwan can obviously reduce TNF-αand IL-6 levels in rat serum and body weight, improve gastric stomach pathological changes, and take a certain role of reducing experimental heat disease. The conclusion is that the nature of Zhishi is similar to Zuojinwan and it is cold. However, that the nature of Zhishi is cold or warm should be dicussed further.
