Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the expression and significance of Survivin, P27, Cyclin D3 and PCNA in subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTL), to analyze the correlation among the biomarkers, and the relationship between the biomarkers and the clinicopathological features of SPTL.Materials and Methods: Twenty cases of SPTL were selected from the archives of Pathologic Laboratory of Dermatological Department (7 cases) and Pathological Department (12 cases), West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and from the Pathological Departmen (1 case) of Mianzhu People's Hospital, Mianzhu, Sichuan. Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of Survivin, P27, Cyclin D3 and PCNA in SPTL. The correlation was analyzed among the four biomarkers, and the relationship were also analyzed between each of the four biomarkers and each of the following 13 clinicopathological features of SPTL, which were the number of skin lesions, lymphadenectasis, ulceration, systemic symptoms, hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS), the size of tumor cells, epidermotrophism, tumor invasion in the dermis, vascular infiltration by tumor cells, tumor necrosis, fat necrosis and erythrocyte phagocytotic phenomenon.Results:1 The expression and significance of Survivin, P27, Cyclin D3 and PCNA in SPTL: The expression rates of Survivin, P27, Cyclin D3, PCNA in SPTL were 31.6 % (6/19), 95.0%(19/20), 95.0%(19/20), 100%(20/20), and the positive cell rates were 5.426%±9.190%, 59.44%±27.85%, 23.73%±19.10%, 52.69%±24.99%, respectively. The expression of Survivin was related to the age, ulceration, epidermotrophism, tumor invasion in the dermis and tumor necrosis (P<0.05) , while not related to the rest clinicopathologic features mentioned above (P>0.05). The expression of P27 was only related to the vascular infiltration by tumor cells among the 13 clinicopathologic features (P<0.05) , and the expression of Cyclin D3 and PCNA were not related to any of these features (P>0.05) . 2 Correlation among Survivin, P27, Cyclin D3, PCNA: No correlation was found among the four biomarkers (P>0.05) .Conclusion: 1 The expression of Survivins was related to some of the SPTL clinicopathological features like ulceration, epidermotrophism, tumor invasion in the dermis and tumor necrosis, which may signify that Survivin plays an important role in the initiation and development of SPTL, and may presume that expression of Survivin associates with the malignant progression and poor outcome. 2 P27, Cyclin D3 and PCNA were highly expressed in SPTL, but there was no relationship between each of the three biomarkers and each of the 13 clinicopathologic features except the expression of P27 related to the vascular infiltration by tumor cells. 3 No correlation was found among the four biomarkers.
