Objective To explore the prognostic factors of 94 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated with comprehensive methods. Methods From March 2001 to December 2006,94 preliminarily diagnosed patients were selected and treated with comprehensive methods. In order to analyze the factors affecting prognosis of NPC,SPSS analysis and logistic regression analysis were used to identify the prognostic factors. Results The 1,3 and 5 years accumulated survival rates were 92.6%,80.4%,77.0%. Single factor analysis showed that T-stage, clinical stage, cranial base involvement, cervical artery sheath involvement, hemoglobin level, recurrence or metastasis after treatment were significant factors for prognosis (P < 0.05) . Multiple factors analysis revealed that cervical artery sheath involvement and recurrence or distant metastasis after treatments were significant factors with survival rate. Conclusion Cervical artery sheath involvement and recurrence or distant metastasis after treatment are independent prognosis factor of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients treated with comprehensive methods. Distant metastasis and local recurrence after irradiation are the main causes of treatment failure.
