Objective:To detect the retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL) thickness around optic disc among normal and primary open angle glaucoma(POAG) eyes by optical coherence tomography(OCT) and analyze. Methods:The study enrolled 3 groups:normal group, and POAG group.Subjects underwent regular ocular examination, perimetry, detection of RNFL thickness using OCT,and analyze statisticly. Results:The study enrolled 148 cases(294 eyes) in normal group, and 48 cases(89 eyes) in POAG group.Statistic difference were observed in temple, superior, nasal, inferior, and average RNFL thickness among normal group and POAG group(P=0.000).Using the multiple linear regression analysis with age(X1),intraocular pressure(X2),mean defect(X3),course(X4)and mean RNFL thickness(Y),equation was built up:Y=107.691-0.349X1+1.709X3-2.702X4. Conclusion:Detection RNFL thickness by OCT conduces to know and monitor the damage of RNFL in POAG,and OCT is a kind of auxiliary method for POAG valuably, potentially, and objectively.
