Objective To analyze prognostic relative factors influencing the outcome of opera- -tive treatment of hip fractures in the elderly so as to establish the theoretic basis and provide a guide for a further improvement of curative effect. Methods A total of 192 aged patients(aged 60 and above) with hip fractures had been operated in our hospital from January 2001 to January 2006, the clinical data of them were collected for statistical analysis in order to definite the factors affecting the results of operative treatment. The factors analysed include age, sex, fracture site, type of fracture, quality of sclerotin, anesthesia measures, timing of surgery, modus operan- -di,the complications before operation, body status before injury, living capability be- -fore injury, the postoperative complications. All the predictive risk factors were dealt with x2 test and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results The factors that played significant influence on the outcome of the operative mortality(with p<0.05)include the age,the complications before operation, body status before injury, living capability before injury, the postoperative complications. The factors that played significant influence on the postoperative function of hip-joint include the age, anesthesia measures, timing of surgery, modus operandi, type of fracture, the complications before operation, body status before injury, living capability before injuryand the postoperative complications. The multivariate Logistic regression analysis shows that the independent risk factors affecting the mortality of the operative treatment are age and postoperative complications, and that the indepen- -dent risk factors affecting functional restoration of hip-joint after operation are age, type of fracture, the complications before operation and living capability before injury. Conclusions The importance of those independent factors affecting the outcome of the operative treatment significantly should be more emphasized.we have to improve the condition of the postoperative complications and body status before operation,in order to reduce the operation mortality and improve the functional restoration of hip-joint and operative outcome.
