Objective:To investigate the expression and the clinical significance of CD44v6 and MMP-9 in endometrial carcinoma as well as their relationship with the clinicopathological factors.Methods:Sixty-five patients with endometrial cancer, 20 patients with benign proliferative endometrium, 24 patients with endometrium intraepithelial neoplasia were studied their expression of CD44v6 and MMP-9 by S-P immunohistochemistry.Results:(1) The positive expression rate of CD44v6 in endometrial carcinoma(EC) was showed statistically higher than that in benign proliferative endometrium(BPE) and in endometrium intraepithelial neoplasia(EIN)(P<0.05), it was proved having no statistically relationship with the pathological type and the histopathological grading of the endometial cancer in our article (P>0.05), but having statistically positive relationship with the surgical pathologic staging, the depth of the cancer invading uterine myometrium, the lymph node metastasis and the positive ascites cytology(P<0.05).(2) The positive expression rate of MMP-9 in endometrial carcinoma(EC) was showed statistically higher than that in benign proliferative endometrium(BPE) and in endometrium intraepithelial neoplasia(EIN)(P<0.05), it was proved having no statistically relationship with the pathological type(P>0.05), but having statistically positive relationship with the histopathological grading of the endometial cancer, the surgical pathologic staging, the depth of the cancer invading uterine myometrium, the lymph node metastasis and the positive ascites cytology(P<0.05).(3) The positive expression rate between CD44v6 and MMP-9 in endometrial carcinoma was showed statistically positive correlation(P<0.05).Conclusion:(1) In our article, CD44v6 was showed overexpression in endometrial carcinoma. The overexpression of CD44v6 was correlated with the surgical pathologic staging, the depth of the cancer invading uterine myometrium, the lymph node metastasis and the positive ascites cytoloyg. The overexpression of CD44v6 was proved being correlated with the progression and metastasis of the endometrial carcinoma.(2) MMP-9 was showed overexpression in endometrial carcinoma. The overexpression of MMP-9 was correlated with the histopathological grading, the surgical pathologic staging, the depth of the cancer invading uterine myometrium, the lymph node metastasis and the positive ascites cytoloyg. The overexpression of MMP-9 was proved being correlated with the progression and metastasis of the endometrial carcinoma.(3) The overexpression of CD44v6 and MMP-9 in endometrial carcinoma was showed statistically positive correlation. It was supposed that there would be some interaction between CD44v6 and MMP-9 in the progression and metastasis of the endometrial carcinoma.(4) Detecting the expression level of CD44v6 connect to MMP-9 might be useful for the prognosticator of the malignance extent, metastasis and prognosis of the endometrial carcinoma. Our study preferd that CD44v6 and MMP-9 were useful tumor markers to evaluate the degree of malignancy and biological behavior for the endometrial carcinoma.
