Gastro-intestinal tract disease is very common in clinic. Gastro- intestinal tumor is one of the most common cancer in China. And that gastric cancer is occpy the second in the malignancy. And it is now the first mortality rate in malignancy. With the rapid development of imaging technique, multi-slice spiral computed tomography (MSCT) has drawn peple's attention for its characteristics of shortcut, no hurt, indolence and accuracy . The original image and postprocessing image complement each other; they can intuitionistic manifest the position, magnitude, scope and the neighboring organ. Spiral CT scanning, is very helpful in TNM staging of the gastric cancer, which is of great value in planning surgical management and guiding the clinical therapy. Objective: :To evaluate the diagnostic value of Multi-slices spiral computed tomography scans in the stomach cancer TNM staging.Materials and Methods: With the use of hypotonic agent and orally taking water as contrast media, spiral CT scanning was performed in 102 patients with pathologically proved gastric cancer. TNM staging of the lesion was made based on the site , size and extent of the lesion, the local infiltration, the neighboring lymph nodes situation and the visceral metastasis. The results were compared with postoperative pathological TNM staging. Results: Multi-slice computed tomography scanning technique showed an accuracy of 62.7% in making for gastric cancer. The staging accuracy for T, N and M was 75.4%, 53.9% and 97.1%, respectively. Conclusion: Multi-slice computed tomography scanning is very helpful in TNM staging of the gastric cancer, which is of great value in planning surgical management and guiding the clinical therapy.
