Objective:To study the relationship between polymorphisms of Angiotensinâ…¡Receptor2(AGTR2) gene and response of blood pressure(BP) and Rennin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(RAAS) related phenotypes to antihypertensive medicine Captopril and Atenolol in Xinjiang Kazakans. Methods:Four hundreds patients of the first diagnosis with essential hypertension screened from 1200 random sample of hypertension cross-sectional survey received Captopril and Atenolol treatment once daily for three weeks,rs5194,rs5193,rs1403543,rs3736556 of AGTR2 were genotyped by the ligase detection reaction-polymerase chain reaction((LDR-PCR).The difference in the response of blood pressure,Renin(AI),Angiotensinâ…¡(Aâ…¡), Aldosterone(ALD) among genotypes of the 4 SNPs were compared. Results: Aâ…¡significantly reduced after 3-week antihypertensive treatment and the descent 6.29pg/ml of Captopril were larger than Atenolol, however,BP and ALD did not clinically changed. The response of BP,Aâ… ,Aâ…¡and ALD to antihypertensive treatment did not significant differ between Captopril and Atenolol or among any 3 genotypes of 4 SNPs genotyped. Conclusion:The current study did not find any association between the AGTR2 gene TaggingSNPs and the reduction of BP,A1,Aâ…¡or ALD in response to Captopril and Atenolol therapy in Kazak patients with essential hypertension.
