| Objective: To study the correlation of angiotensin â…¡ receptor type 1(AGTR1) genotypes with the antihypertensive effects of captopril and atenolol in essential hypertensive patients of Xinjiang Kazak race. Method: In total 283 patients were recruited and 103 patients were treated by captopril 25mg tid and 180 patients were on atenolol 12.5mg bid. After three weeks, the 5245C/T polymorphism of AGTR1 gene was determined by PCR-RFLP. Result: The frequencies of C and T in the captopril group(0.54 and 0.46) were not significantly different from atenolol group(0.53 and 0.47). The frequencies of AGTR1 genotypes of CC,CT and TT were 0.38, 0.29, 0.33 in captopril group respectively and 0.36,0.34,0.30 in atenolol group respectively .There was no significant difference in genotypes between two groups. The 5245C/T polymophism of AGTR1 gene were not significantly associated with the effect antihypertensive treatment in Kazak population by captopril and atenolol. The level of angiotensin â… (Angâ… ), angiotensin â…¡(Ang â…¡) and aldosterone (Ald) changed significantly in AGTR1 genotypes of CC,CT and TT (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggested that the 5245C/T polymophism of AGTR1 gene might not be associated with the effect antihypertensive treatment in Kazak population of Xinjiang Aleta area by captopril and atenolol, but mighe be associated with the changed level of Angâ… , Ang â…¡ and Ald. |
