| [Objective]The aim of our work was to study the expression of osteopontin(OPN)and integrin av,β3 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) and their relationships with tumorigenesis and metastasis in NPC.So as to provide molecular evidence for the etiology of NPC.[Methods]Immunohistorchemitry method was used in detecting the expressions of OPN and integrin av,β3 in 44 NPC tissues without distant metastasis,44 NPC tissues with distant metastasis and 15 nasopharyngeal inflammation tissues.[Results](1)OPN was mainly stained in cytoplasm.,the expression of OPN in NPC was obviously stronger than in nasopharyngeal inflammation tissues(P＜0.01).The expression of OPN in NPC did not correlated with sex,age,T stage,N stage and clinic stage(p＞0.05).(2)The expression of integrin av and integrinβ3 in NPC was also obviously stronger than in nasopharyngeaI inflammation tissues(p＜0.01),And integrin av was over-expressed in NPC with distant metastasis(P＜0.01). Moreover,The expression of integrin av had close correlation with N stage and clinic stage in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(p＜0.01).However,it weren't correlated with sex,age and T stage;The expression of integrinβ3 had close correlation with N stage in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (p＜0.05).the expression of integrinβ3 in NPC and sex,age,T stage,clinic stage weren't have relation(p＞0.05).(3)The expression of OPN showed a significant positive correction with the expression of integrin av and integrinβ3 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.(p＜0.01).[Conclusions](1)OPN may play an important role in the tumorigenesis of NPC.(2)Integrin av was correlated with tumorigenesis,neck node metastasis and distant metastasis in NPC.(3) Integrinβ3 was correlated with tumorigenesis and neck node metastasis in NPC.(4)The expression of OPN and integrin av,β3 had close correlation in NPC that indicated they may play important roles in tumorigenesis,tumor invasion,and metastasis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
