| Objective: By reaserching the correlation of expression of p21 and survivin ,we determined the relation between p21 and survivin and provided the oretical base for gene therapy of laryngeal carcinoma .Methods: A total of 31 samples were analyzed with squamous cell carcinoma . They were made into sections . SABC immunohistochemical staining was used to detect survivin and p21 protein expression. Data were presented as mean±standard error (SE).SPSS 10.0 software was used to conduct all the statistical analysis .Results:1. In normal laryngeal tissues ,survivin was not detected to express. But compared with normal laryngeal tissues ,the expression of survivin in laryngeal carcinoma tissues was significantly higher . The expression of survivin became stronger as the clinical stage was in progression ,histologic grade and metastatic involvement of cervical lymph nodes appeared. (P<0.05).2. We found P21 in cancer nest , but the expression of p21 was very lower. The negative expression of p21 played a certain role in clinical stage , histologic grade generation ,growth and metastatic involvement of cervical lymph nodes appeared (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Survivin is a inhibitor of apoptosis protein.It indicates more invasive laryngeal carcinoma .2. P21 plays a certain role in prognosis of laryngea carcinoma , and it is significance to predict the prognosis of laryngea carcinoma.3 .There is a negative relationship in the expression of LSCC between Survivin and p21.
