Objective 1. To observe the difference in arterial elasticity between patients with hypertension and people of the same age group with normal blood pressure by echo-tracking technique and arteriosclerotic examine technique.2. contrast research between one point pulse wave velocity(PWVβ) and traditional two point pulse wave velocity(PWV).3. To observe the change of carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in patients with hypertension, and analyze the relationship between IMT and the related indexes of arterial elasticity.4. To access the effect of atorvastatin on arterial elasticity of patients with hypertension. Methods 70 hypertensive patients with the average age of 55. 47±9. 89 years old were enrolled in hypertension group and 30 healthy persons with the average age of 53. 90±8.88 years old were selected as the control group, none of the subjects had metabolic disturbance of blood sugar and lipid and complications of cardiovascular and cerebral diseases. There was no significant difference in age, sex and so on. Evaluate the carotid elasticity function of the patients with hypertension by echo-tracking technique and arteriosclerotic examine technique, involving the following indexes: pressure-strain elastic modulus(Ep), arterial stiffness parameter(β), augmentation index(AI), arterial compliance (AC), one point pulse wave velocity(PWVβ) and two point pulse wave velocity(PWV). And measure the carotid arterial intima media thickness (IMT). Patients with hypertension were divided into two groups, placebo group(n=35) and atorvastatin group(n=35). Placebo group were administered placebo and amlodipine, atorvastatin group were administered amlodipine and atorvastatin for six months. Measure the above indexes after treating for three months and six months and then analyze the data with statistics method. Results 1. Mean value of SBP,DBP,PP,IMT,Ep,β,AI,PWVβand PWV of the hypertension group before treatment was all higher than the control group and the AC value was lower than the control group, where there was remarkable difference(all of P<0.05).2. IMT of carotid arterial and the indexes of arterial elasticity showed statistically significant correlation.3. The value of PWVβin each group was lower than the PWV value which was measured by the traditional way, however, they had a good correlation.4. The mean value of SBP, DBP, PP, IMT and the indexes of arterial elasticity was not change distinctly in the placebo group after treating for 3 months. The mean value of SBP, DBP,βand PWVβof the placebo group was remarkably lower than that before treatment with significant difference (all of P<0.05) after treating for 6 months. The value of PP and PWVβhad significant difference in the atorvastin group after treating for 3 months, but other indexes had no distinct change compared with that before treating. After 6 months treatment, the mean value of SBP, DBP, PP, IMT, Ep,β, AI, PWVβand PWV of the atorvastatin group decreased obviously and the AC value increased remarkably with significant difference (all of P<0.05). Compared with placebo group, the decreasing amplitude of SBP, DBP, IMT, Ep,β, AI, PWVβand PWV and the increasing amplitude of AC in the atorvastin group was higher, and the difference of SBP,PP,Ep,PWVβand PWV was significant (all of P<0.05).Conclusions 1. The arterial elasticity function of the patients with hypertension is obviously worse than those with the same age and normal blood pressure. 2. The echo-tracking technique and arteriosclerotic examine technique can evaluate the early change of arterial elasticity function conveniently, rapidly and non-invasively. 3. There is a good correlation between one point pulse wave velocity and the traditional way of two point pulse wave velocity. 4. The carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in patients with hypertension is obviously thicker than those with the same age and normal blood pressure, and IMT is correlated significantly with the related indexes of arterial elasticity.5. Atorvastatin can lower the degree of arteriosclerosis.
