Objective it is generally accepted that, scapholunate interosseous ligaments(SLIL)is the prerequisite for scapholunate dissociation, however, whether the rupture of SLIL would definitely lead to scapholunate dissociation remains controversial. This trial was aimed to explore the role of radial scaphoid fossa in the stabling of scapholunate interosseous joint, and its correlation with the power by which causes the scaphoid dislodged from radial scaphoid fossa. Methods 12 cadaver distal upper extremities beyond elbow joint were enrolled inthis trial. None of them showed bone abnormality on X-ray test, and those who had were excluded. The ligaments which restricted the scapholunate interosseous space were disconnected and cut off, such as radioscaphocapitate ligaments, radioscapholunate ligaments, radiolunate ligaments, dorsal radiocarpal ligaments, dorsal intercarpal ligaments, and the dorsal and palm part of scapholunate interosseous ligaments. The well-prepared specimen were fixed onto the EnduraTEC, and power by which the scaphoid dislodged from radial scaphoid fossa was measured. Expose the distal radius, and length of string both at sagittal plane and at coronal plane and depth of radial scaphoid fossa were measured in the purpose of calculating the curvature of the two planars. Results the curvature at sagittal plane and at coronal plane were analyzed by SPSSstatistical software with Pearson correlation test. Inspection standardsα= 0.01. P <0.01, statistically relevant, and was positively correlated. Conclusion the radial scaphoid fossa curvature was correlated with the stability ofscapholunate interosseous joint. The greater the radial scaphoid fossa curvature was, the more stable the scapholunate interosseous was, and it explained why some patients experienced scapholunate interosseous ligaments rupture showed inapparent symptoms.
