A Study Of The Sclerotic Rim Of Fibrous Dysplasia Of Bone

Objectives: To discuss imaging diagnosis of the sclerotic rim of FDB and its pathological features and to provide evidence for its diagnosis and differential diagnosis.Methods: There have been 1347 tumor cases confirmed by patholgy from 2001.27 cases with FDB or Bone Cyst or Non-ossifying fibroma proved surgically or pathologically.17 cases proved as FDB were examined with X plainfilm,15 with CT and 2 with MRI. 6 cases proved as Bone Cyst were examined with X plainfilm, 5 with CT . 3 of the Non-ossifying fibroma cases proved were examined with X plainfilm, and 1 of the 4 cases have only CT examination .Results: 27 cases with sclerotic rim is FDB or bone cyst or non-ossifying fibroma proved surgically or pathologically,All of which is solitary.There are 13 cases in proximal femur ,1 case in the distal femur and 3 cases in the ilium.The sclerotic rim is integrity with different thickness.The low-density is inhomogeneous in the lesion. The sclerotic rim of the 6 bone cyst lesion is thin. The low-density is homogeneous in the lesion and have a low CT value.The size of the 3 lesion of the Non-ossifying fibroma cases proved is small,and the sclerotic rim is thin. Density is homogeneous.All of the cases is 126. Conclusion: The imaging of the Scleritic rim of the lesions is helpful to diagnosis and antidiastole of the FDB.
