| [Objective]To observe the therapeutic efficacy and clinical safety of Jin Fu An Decoction combined with chemotherapy in treating chest pain of non-small cell lung cancer patients.[Methods]86 patients with non-small cell lung cancer were recruited in this cohort study.They were divided into two groups,the treatment group(Jin Fu An Decoction combined with chemotherapy)with 44 cases and the control group(chemotherapy)with 42 cases,for clinical observation.Treatments for each group are two cycles(six weeks),and the differences in degree of chest pain,quality of life and toxicity of drugs were analyzed after the treatment.[Results]For the chest pain analysis,the total efficiency of treatment group was 79.5%while that of the control group was 59.6%,a significant difference(P(0.05)was found between the two figures.For the results of Karnofsky value(KPS),no cases of lower KPS but an increase rate of 54.5%was noted in the treatment group;a decrease rate of 31%and an increase rate of 19.0%were found in the control group,the result of two groups were significantly different(P＜0.05).The above results suggest that chemotherapy can alleviate part of the chest pain in patients with lung cancer,but chemotherapy combined with Chinese medicine Jin Fu An Decoction can significantly improve the efficacy of pain relief and invigorate the quality of life for patients with significantly greater extent.Comparing with the control group,the treatment group exerted significantly lower percentage and degree of toxicity(P＜0.05)in the WBC count,hemoglobin level,platelets level,aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase.For the serum transpeptidase,total bilirubin,blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine levels,the treatment group also demonstrated lower percentage and degree in toxicity than the control group,but the figures for two groups were not significantly different(P＞0.05).In the observation of nausea,vomiting and diarrhea, the treatment group showed significantly milder symptoms than those in the control group(P＜0.05).In the incidence of constipation,lethargy, and pruritus,the values for treatment group were significantly lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).The results indicate that Jin Fu An Decoction combined with chemotherapy for lung cancer,to a certain extent, can reduce the adverse effect of chemotherapy on bone marrow,exert protection on liver function and at the same time significantly improve or avoid the adverse reactions of nausea,vomiting,diarrhea, constipation,lethargy and pruritus caused by chemotherapy or analgesics.[Conclusion]Jin Fu An Decoction combined with chemotherapy can significantly improve the efficacy of pain relief,alleviate or avoid the adverse reactions caused by chemotherapy or analgesics and invigorate the quality of life for non-small cell lung cancer patients. |
