ObjectiveThis research was to investigate the effect of the therapeutic method of removing heat-phlegm in clinical treatment of systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS)in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in acute deteriorated stage, and the effect on inflammatory mediators of procalcitonin(PCT).Methods1.100 patients which suffered from SIRS in COPD which in acute deteriorated stage were randomly divided into two groups-A and B.Every group had 50 patients. The A group was treated with routine medicine only. The B group was treated with Chinese medicine(modified Qianjin Weijing decoction)beside the routine medicine. The period of observing was one week. The PCT of serum were measured on the 1st,3rd,7thday.The symptom scores and the examinations of safe index such as blood analysis, stool, urine and others were recorded before treatment and after treatment.2.All the data were analyzed by statistical soft spss 11.5.Results1.There are no differences between the two groups at the sex, age, the symptoms score and the severity of illness before the therapy(P>O.05).2.The symptoms scores of two groups are decreased after treatment(P<0.05).3.On the degree of symptoms score decreased, the B group is better than the A group(P<0.05),and there are statistical significance.Besides,if the symptoms score improvment rate is divided into two parts which one≥70%,and the other<70%,the therapy efficiency of the B group is obviously better than the A group(P<0.05). 4.The symptoms score is proportional to the number of the diagnostic criteria(P<0.05).5.The severity of illness varies directly as the concentration of the PCT,and after the treatment, the positive rate of PCT is down. There are no differences in the effect of the two groups on the inflammatory mediator PCT (P>0.05).Conclusion1.phlegm,heat are the pathogenesis of the SIRS in COPD which in acute deteriorated stage.2.In the four diagnostic criteria of SIRS,rapid heart rate and respiratory rate frquence are the highest in the SIRS in COPD in acute deteriorated stage. And the more diagnstic criteria it has,the more serious illness is.3.The severity of illness is proportional to the concertration of the PCT.4.The therapeutic method of removing heat-phlegm as well as the routine therapy has satisfied effect on the symptom improving.5.The working together of the therapeutic method of removing heat-phlegm and routine therapy is better than the routine therapy only,so the former is more helpful for symptom improving.
