Usefulness Of The Neutrophil To Lymphocytes Ratio In Predicting The Progression Of Coronary Atery Sceratheroma

Objective:The inflammation,many inflammatory cells and inflammatory factors involved,was the key actors in the progression of coronary artery scleratheroma.The neutrophil,lymphocytes,monocytes,IL-6 and hsCRP may be the major factors in the inflammation reaction.This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of the neutrophil and lymphocytes in the progression of the coronary artery scleratheroma.Methods:We recruited the inpatients who had accepted coronary angiography(CAG)in our hospital during the Jul,2006 to the Jan,2007,the patients were divided into two groups according to the results of CAG:coronary artery scleratheroma and negative of the CAG.By analyzing the count of white blood cells(WBCC),the neutrophil to lymphocytes ratio(N/L),the count of neutrophil(N),the count of lymphocytes(L),interleukin-6(IL-6),high sensitive-C reaction protein(hsCRP)and other risk factors,we certified the effects of the N,L in the progression of the coronary artery scleratheroma.Results:All of 433 patients who underwent CAG were divided into textiles according to their preprocedural N/L ratio(mean N/L ratio,textiles 1,less than 1.8; textile 2:1.8 to 2.3;textile 3:high than 2.3).In multivariable modeling,after adjusting for age,hypertension,diabetes mellitus(DM),the body mass index(BMI),hyperlipoidemia,hyperuricemia,gender,smoking,and drinking,the N/L ratio,not including the white blood cell count,was an independent significant predictor of coronary artery scleratheroma(N/L<1.8,hazard ratio 0.32,95% confidence interval 0.31,to 0.40,p<0.001;1.8≤N/L≤2.3,hazard ratio 1.18,95% confidence interval 0.98,to 1.18,p=0.06,N/L>2.3,hazard ratio 2.67,95% confidence interval 2.55,to 3.08,p<0.001),which accorded with serum IL-6,hsCRP.In conclusion:N/L ratio was an independent significant predictor of coronary artery scleratheraoma.IfN/L is combined with IL-6,hsCRP,hypertension, cigarette,drinking,DM,obesity,age,gender,hyperlipoidemia,and hypemricemia, predicting value of it may be more effective.
