Propolis is a natural substance, with a variety of functions.It has variety biological roles and are widely used in the medical field.With the rapid development of national economy, the living standards of people are also improved and the spectrum of diseases change greatly as well.The chronic noninfectious diseases including diabetes are becoming important social public health issues.Diabetes not only bring heavy economic burdens to patients,it could also result in a number of chronic complications, which could lead to disability, loss of work ability, significant disruptions of a patient's quality of life and even death.The prevention and treatment of diabetes become a hot topic in medicine.More and mora studies show that oxidative stress and the incidence of diabetes is closely related. Oxidative stress is considered as the imbalance between the production and clearance of all kinds of radicals. This is usually affected by some factors and results in tissue damage.Some radicals,including O2-,H2O2,OH-, are produced during the normal metabolism in different tissues.These radicals are called ROS. Islets containing low levels of antioxidant enzyme system, and easily lead to oxidative stress caused oxidative damage.In this experiment, we used rat animal model for the study of propolis tetraoxypyrimidine damage caused by rats role in the protection and resistance.And this experiment provide foundation on the prevention and treatment of diabetes.The results of this experiment is as follow:1. Propolis has significantly regulation on blood glucose.Propolis can prevent DM,also it can ease diabetes.Propolis small dose can produce protective effect on the rats, and decreased blood glucose, Comparing the propolis treated group with the control,P value is less than 0.01(P <0.01).2. Propolis has strong antioxidant, can resist the oxidative damage in rats availability.It can significantly improve the organization of rat islets antioxidant enzyme activity and reduce lipid peroxidation product of the production of MDA.
