Progress Of The Relationship Between Visfatin And Metabolic Syndrome

Adipose tissue was believed to be just an energy-storage organ,but it is now recognized to be an active participant in energy homoeostasis.Adipose tissue is known to express and secrete a variety of products known as'adipokines',which can play their roles by autocrine paracrine and endocrine. Visfatin is a new adipokine which is mainly secreted by the viscera fat,and having species of biologic activities such as mimic insulin effect,increasing insulin sensitivity,taking part in the response of inflammation,delaying the apoptosis of neutrophil,it is also remarkable in the physiologic and pathologic processes of the matebolism of glucolipid,atherosclerosis and hypertension.The discovery of visfatin develops a new target to investigate the pathogenesy and treatment of correlated diseases.
