Objective: To study the application of laparoscopic surgery on non-abdominal cryptorchidism.Methods: 47 cases with non-abdominal cryptorchidism were treated with operation in children hospital of Chongqing Medical University from March 2007 to September 2007 ,47 cases divided into open surgery group and laparoscopic surgery group randomly, 23 cases in open surgery group and 24 cases in laparoscopic surgery group, the two groups were measured preoperative and postoperative six months of testicular volume (V), the level of sex hormones (T, FSH, LH, and E2) values, and the data were analyzed.Results:(1)47 cases were underwent orchidopexy successfully.(2)Laparoscopic surgery group, preoperative and postoperative six months own comparison, testicular volume without atrophy (P> 0.05), compared with the preoperative T increased (P <0.05), FSH and E2 decreased compared with the preoperative (P <0.05), LH and preoperative no significant difference (P> 0.05).(3)Open surgery group, preoperative and postoperative six months own comparison, testicular volume without atrophy (P> 0.05), compared with the preoperative T increased (P <0.05), FSH and E2 decreased compared with the preoperative (P <0.05), LH and preoperative no significant difference (P> 0.05).(4) Comparison between laparoscopic surgery group and the open surgery group, all data (V, T, FSH, E2, LH)have no differences (P> 0.05).Conclusion:Laparoscopy is a very helpfull,safe and reliable technique in the treatment of non-abdominal cryptorchidism and have the same efficacy as traditional open surgery.So we think laparoscopy can be used as a conventional surgery in non-abdominal cryptorchidism.
