Objective:To observe the effect and mechanism of catgut implantation at acupoint on treating ischemic heart disease(IHD).Methods: 60 cases of IHD were chosen and randomly divided into treatment group(with catgut implantation at acupoint) of 30 cases and control group(with acupuncture)of 30 cases. The same points(Danzhong and Zhongwan)were selected for both groups. The group with catgut implantation at acupoint were treated once a week.2 times constituted of one course. The other group were treated 6 times a week.2 weeks constituted of one course. Before and after treatment, the 12-lead ECG recorded the QT dispersion(QTd) in inter-group and between-group.Results: Both methods could improve the blood supply of IHD and had obvious effect on improving physical signs and changes of QTd and QTcd(P<0.01). There were no significant differences between two groups (P>0.05). Conclusions: This study proves that catgut implantation at acupoint therapy is effective on treating ischemic heart disease and has the same effect with acupuncture. The method saves time and needs less treatments. It's worth extensive application and deeper research.
