Objective: The clinical postoperative results of different operation models for Lumbar Disc Herniation (LDH) were observed and analyzing the correlated characters of the postoperative results on LDH to direct the clinical practices. Methods: 79 cases were divided into two groups: the group of the fenestration lumbar discectomy (A group) and the group of the semi-laminectomy or total-laminectomy (B group). They were analyzed retrospectively to calculate the improvement of JOA scores and evaluated the treatments. Correlations between improvement of JOA scores and age at the operation, number of lumbar discs in treatment, body mass index (BMI), postoperative rehabilitation were investigated by statistical analysis. Result: 79 patients were followed up at 12 months after the operations. After the operation, the JOA scores of two groups significantly increased from 12.63±2.06 scores to 24.63±1.51 scores and 12.17±1.84 scores to 23.71±1.64 scores, so there was significant difference between pre-operation and post-operation in each group. (P<0.01) Besides, there was no significant difference in the total result for the two groups. (P>0.05)There was no significant difference of improvement of JOA scores in age and amount of disc removed. Patients of the normal BMI or postoperative rehabilitation(≥6个月)would enjoy better improvement of JOA scores. About 94.94%of patients felt content with the operations. Conclusions: (1) The results of the operation on the LDH were satisfying. (2) There was no significant difference in the results of two groups. (3) There was no significant correlation between the results and age or amount of discs removed, but it was closed to BMI and postoperative rehabilitation. (4) Active, moderate and early postoperative rehabilitation was important to the better results.
