Objective To study the effects of Pioglitazone Hydrochloride in the treatment of metabolic syndrome plus hypertension.Methods Acceding to the definition of MS by CDS in 2004,63 subjects were enrolled and divided into two groups at random,including treatment group(n=31),and controll group(n=32).The treatment guoup were given Pioglitazone Hydrochloride 15 mg·d-1 and Benazepril Hydrochloride 10 mg·d-1 for 12 weeks,and the controll group were given Metformin Hydrochloride 1.5g·d-1 and Benazepril Hydrochloride 10 mg·d-1 for 12 weeks,with the level of blood pressure,embolic indexes and hsC-reactive protein monitored to assess the effects.Results The patients hypertension was reduced in both groups,and more significantly in treatment group than in controll group(P<0.01),at the same time their metabolic indexes,including plasma insulin,plasma glucose,TG,body mass index(BMI) and serum hsC-reactive protein,were all more significantly improved by 12 weeks(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusion Pioglitazone Hydrochloride can improve the IR and reduce the levels of blood pressure,plasma glucose, plasma lipid,BMI and serum hsC-reactive protein in the patients with metabolic syndrome plus hypertension more significantly than Metformin Hydrochloride.
