Objective To observe the effects of Danhong injection resisting atherosclerosis in rabbit Model.Methods Thirty-six New Zealand male rabbits were randomly divided into normal control group (NC group, n=9), high-cholesterol group (HC group, n=9), high-cholesterol plus fluvastatin (FC group, n=9) and high-cholesterol plus Danhong injection group(DC group, n=9) and then were fed for 12 weeks. The plaque area of aorta and the neointima thickness were performed with histomorphometry analysis. Serum lipids, serum NO, plasma ET were detected with standard enzymatic assays, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was employed to monitor the levels of serum hs-CRP and plaque tissue NF-κB in vascular wall.Results The serum lipids except triglyceride(TG), the levels of plasma ET, serum hs-CRP and vascular wall NF-κB p65 subunit, the neointima thickness and plaque area of aorta in the HC group and DC group were significantly increased compared with the NC group(P<0.05). There was significantly difference in the serum lipids TC and LDL-C between the HC group and DC group(P<0.05), but the serum lipids except triglyceride(TG), the levels of plasma ET, serum hs-CRP and vascular wall NF-κB p65, the neointima thickness and plaque area of aorta in the DC group were significantly decreased compared with the HC group(P<0.05). Conclusion The study suggested that Danhong injection could decreased atherosclerosis in atherosclerotic rabbit Model, its mechanism may be to pass to①decrease the serum lipids TC and LDL-C levels, prevent the evaluation of AS.②regulate vascular endothelial cells born and release the NO and ET, reduce the creation of the activated oxygen, thus repress the NF-κB to activate in a certain extent, reduce the expression of inflammatory mediums, then produce the anti- AS function.
