Clinic Therapeutic Effect Of Itraconazole Intermittent Treatment Of Sporotrichosis

Objective Evaluate the clinic therapeutic effect of Itraconazole Intermittent treatment in treating sporotrichosis and compare the efficacy, safety and effect-economic ratio with the IDSA recommended Itrconazole treatment and Potassium iodide treatment. Methods Randomized Control Test. We randomly divide the patients who match our standards into there groups: A group: Itraconazole pulse therapy; B group: Itraconazole therapy recommended by IDSA; C group: 10% KI therapy. The information of each patient is recorded with unified table. Cure rate, side effects, time to show effect and cost are recorded after the 1week, 1 month, two months and three months follow-up. Result Each group got 25 cases while 3 in group B dropped when the research is completed. Of all 72 cases: There are 20 males (27.8%), 52 females (72.2%). Ages range from 16 to 65 (mean 52), courses of the disease range from 1 month to 7 years (mean 5 months). 66 (91.6%) are farmers and 69 (95.8%) lives in rural areas. 36 (50%) have history of trauma. 31 (43.1%) got fixed form and 41 (56.9%) got Lymphocutaneous form. The C group got the highest cure rate in the first month (p <0.05) and there are no differences among there groups in the second and third month. Each group got a cure rate over 80% (A group: 88%) at the end of 3 months'course. A group showed the lowest rate of side effect (4.0%) compare to the other two groups (18.2%), However there is no statistical difference (p>0.05). 22 (88%) of C group reported unpleasant experiences during the treatment for the taste of KI. The Cost-effect Analysis showed the A group has a much lower C/E rate than B group while the C group got the lowest. Conclusion: Itraconazole Pulse therapy is effective. Comparing with the IDSA recommended therapy, it can lower the cost and the burden of liver while not deminish the effect; Comparing with the KI treatment, It is with less painfulness and more convenient to apply. Itraconazole Intermittent treatment is with great value of application in China.
