| Background: Cancer is a common chronic disease that harms people's health seriously. In recent years, its disease incidence rate and mortality rate showed an upward trend. In our country cancer has become the first cause of disease which the city people died, the second cause of disease which the countryside inhabitant. Therefore improving the quality of life of patients with malignant cancer has become one of the main purposes.Objective:To investigate the quality of life (QOL) and analyze influential factors of patients with advanced gastric cancer in hospital and provide theoretical basis for nursing intervention in clinical medicine.Methods:By convenient sampling, from May to December 2008 a total of 295 advanced gastric cancer patients of Shanxi tumor hospital were investigated by filling out questionnaires, including EORTC QLQ-C30, SSRS, MCMQ, SAS, self-defined questionnaire containing A demographic information form and A clinical disease information form. All the data obtained in the field investigation were statistically analyzed by computer with the software package SPSS11.5 for windows. Descriptives,t-test,ANOVA,linear correlation and multiple linear regression were performed.Results:(1)Compare with normal people, the QOL of advanced gastric cancer patients had lower score.The total score of QOL of advanced gastric cancer patients was(36.78±18.52).(2)Results of independent-samples t-test show that there are significant difference operation,chemotherapy,complication,anxiety among the total score of QOL of patients with advanced gastric cancer.(3)Results of ANOVA show that there are significant difference age,degree of literacy,occuptions,marital status,source of medical expenses,family address,clinical stage,the number of hospital,nutrition,degree of awareness,degree of pain,medical coping modes among the total score of QOL of patients with advanced gastric cancer.(4)Results of correlation analysis show that there are positively related to objective supports,subjective supports,social support availability,the score of social supports and the total score of QOL(p<0.01).(5)Multiple stepwise regression analysis reveal that the major factors related to the quality of life of patients with advanced gastric cancer include degree of pain(p=0.000,p<0.01),clinical stage(p=0.000,p<0.01),nutrition(p=0.000,p<0.01),degree of literacy(p=0.001,p<0.01),complication(p=0.004,p<0.01),medical coping modes(p=0.015,p<0.05),the total score of social supports(p=0.038,p<0.05),anxiety(p=0.040,p<0.05).Conclusion:(1)The QOL of advanced gastric cancer patients is poor. We must take some measures to work out this problem.(2)Many factors can influence the QOL of advanced gastric cancer patients, including demographic information and clinical disease information. But one of the main influential factors is clinical information factor,social supports,medical coping modes,anxiety.(3)The medical staff must take some efficient measures to improve their QOL according to the main influential factors.
