Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy occurs as a result of an extreme lateral traction of the infant's head away from the shoulder during the last phase of delivery, resulting in variable traction or a stretch neural lesion, which results from injury to the cervical roots C5-C8 and thoracic root T1. The study about obstetric brachial plexus palsy has been an important and hot subject in birth trauma treatment. Because of the different in extent, position, character of the damage, there are obviously distinction in the natural history and natural recover ratio. Although the advanced technique and microsurgical were used , but there are partal infants with function deficit. Therefore, the early diagnosis ,treatment and lateral reconstruction for shoulder ,elbow, hand were necessary to recover the function of the limb. But the surgical procedure ,peration timing and methods of reconstruction whether or not are needed, there are different viewpoints in the different scholors. The objective of this article is to review the anatomy, reasons and mechanisms, clinical classifical, diagnoses and therapy of obstetric brachial plexus palsy.
