Human Genome Project has greatly promoted the progress of medical imaging technology to make it through the phases of structural imaging and functional imaging into molecular imaging time. Optical molecular imaging technology with features of a high sensitivity, low price and simplified operation, and the fast maturity of animal models of human disease laid the foundation for molecular imaging technology into the test and pre-clinical stages. In vivo to explore the mechanism of malign diseases in molecular and gene level attracts urgent attention, which can efficiently detect pathological changes before clinical symptoms, implement disease early warning and improve therapy effects. For the sake of the above need, real-time in vivo imaging software platform based on the bioluminescence is researched and developed. Modern optical molecular imaging system composing of advanced imported equipments including an ultra-low temperature and low-light-level imager and a professional champer not only fully prepares hardware platform, but also raises an emergency mission. Real-time in vivo imaging software platform mainly completed by C++ and QT follows object-oriented principles, of which sub-classes is independent of each other so as to be used flexibly and integrated together with a close logic. It is be divided into camera control module, dark room control module, image computing module, and image analysis and database module. Besides the experiment module, they are also the main task of the article. The software platform driving and controlling the whole system offers life characteristic information, especially the light intensity by the bioluminescent imaging from transgenic mice, which is the first set of independent development of small animal in vivo optical imaging system in China. The significance of this success lies not only in that bioluminescence imaging technology immediately becomes the instrument for the drug testing, pharmacodynamic evaluation and cancer research, more importantly that bioluminescence tomography dependents on it from simulation platform phrase into the experimental stage.
