The study was undertaken to detect the expression of MT and LRP and their correlation,as well as correlation with clinicopathologic factors and cell proliferation and prognosis in gastric carcinoma.MethodThe immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of MT,LRP, Ki-67 in 54 cases of gastric carcinoma and 20 cases of normal gastric mucosa. The percentage of calculation of Ki-67 positive cells in the total cells is Ki-67 proliferation index. To explore the expression of MT and LRP and their correlation, as well as correlation with clinicopathologic factors and cell proliferation..The patients were followed up,the survival rates was calculated by Kplan-Meier curve method and the statistic difference was inspected by Log-rank method.Multiple factors comparison was done though Cox regression analysis. All tests were performed at the 0.05 level of significances.Result1.The expression of MT was mainly located in gastric carcinoma tissue cytoplasm, or(and) in gastric carcinoma tissue nuclei. The positive expression rates of MT in gastric carcinoma gastric carcinoma and normal gastric mucosa were 59.26%and 5%respectively,there is a significant difference(P<0 05) between them. There was a significant difference in MT expression with respect to age,the degree of differentiation, depth of invasion, and Borrmann classification(P<0.05).2.The expression of LRP was located in gastric carcinoma tissue cytoplasm,The positive expression rates of LRP in gastric carcinoma and normal gastric mucosa were 75.93% and 20%respectively,there is a significant difference(P<0 05) between them. There was no significant difference in LRP expression with respect to age, gender, cell differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph nodes metastasis, distant metastasis,TNM classification and Borrmann classification(P>0.05 ).3.The expression of ki-67 was located in gastric carcinoma tissue nuclei.the index of tumor cell proliferation in MT positive-expression group was higher than in MT negative-expression group (P<0.05),while the expression of LRP was not correlated with the index of tumor cell proliferation(P>0.05).4.The expression of MT was not correlated with LRP(P>0.05).5.The 1 -year,3- year and 5- year cumulative survival rates in MT positive-expression group and negative-expression group were 81%,26%16% and 100%,68%and 27%,there is a significant difference(P<0 05) between them. The 1 -year,3- year and 5- year cumulative survival rates in LRP positive-expression group and negative-expression group were86%,35%,18%and 100%,69%,30%,there is no significant difference(P>0.05).6.Cox regression analysis shows:LRP was not correlated with prognosis(P>0.05 ),MT was a independent factor of prognosis in gastric carcinoma(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The positive expression rates of MT and LRP in gastric carcinoma were higher than those in normal stomach tissues. It could be related to related to occurrence of gastric carcinoma.2.The expression of MT could be related to cell differentiation, invasion, tumor cell proliferation and prognosis of gastric carcinoma.MT was a independent factor of prognosis in gastric carcinoma.3.The expression of LRP could be not correlated with biological behavior of gastric carcinoma,Present study does not support that LRP is a index of prognosis in gastric cancer.4.The expression of MT was not correlated with LRP,They are probably the two independent factors in the development of gastric cancer.5.Compared to LRP,MT could evaluate progression of gastric cancer,so it is possible to be a detection index of prognosis in gastric carcinoma.
