Correlation Research Of Medical Records Recorded By Lingnan (in The Southern Region Of Five Mountains) Physicians Before The Republic Period Based On Traditional Literature Study And Data Mining

Clear records showing that since the beginning of the Jin Dynasty physicians have done medical practice in the Lingnan area; and in the Tang and Song Dynasties "Lingnan" and medicine have been closely linked together; then up until to the Qing Dynasty it has an unprecedented development. Lingnan Medicine is the combined product of the universal principles of troditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and the practic of the Lingnan region. And the medical records of TCM can provide a wealth of lively and human specific cases, and integrated show all conditions such as days, region and human body of that time;and they also list the doctor's analysis, reasoning and the corresponding treatment as well as the patient's immediate reflection and ultimate effect. So they become an important carrier of the doctor's syndrome differentiation thought and treatment experiences. The connectionn of both is just the object of this study—Lingnan physicians' medical records. Therefore studying them before the republic period and readouting the main medical records or large-sample medical records can unearth the generality and individuality of them; and can more objectively reflect the profile about the academic standards of TCM, the treatment level, the characteristics of physicians, the medical schools and the drug utility efficacy profile utility of this time and this area. According to sorting,analysising and studying the content of those 663 collected cases, we see the possibility to do statistical analysis about problems of concern by taking large sample. Some physicians personally have more than 100 medical records , and the number of certain diseases records also measure up to 100 after pooling through the comparative analysis of these cases. We can extract the regular things and propose some viewpoints and methods to help today's clinical therapy through the comparative analysis of these cases. After years of accumulation, there are still lots of information that contain considerable inspiration for modern study in the medical records of successive dynasties.In this study, We do two-ways study on the 673 collected Lingnan physicians' medical records which is from Jin Dynasty to Qing Dynasty through the integrated use of TCM literature research methods and modern scientific research methods data mining technology. First of all, we use TCM literature research methods to do sorting , the results are as follow : Jin Dynasty kept 1 Lingnan physicians and 1 medical record , Tang Dynasty had no records; Song Dynasty kept 2 Lingnan physicians and 3 medical records , Yuan Dynasty kept 2 Lingnan physicians and 21 medical records, Qing Dynasty kept 59 Lingnan physicians and 576 medical records. Then we chose the distinctive medical records written by Luo Zhiyuan, Li Peilan, Liang Daqiao, Lin Qingquan and Yi Jvsun who are good at healing the murrain to analyze; and make the summary of its academic origins, theoretical points, academic thought, features of clinical syndrome differentiation, characteristics of prescription and using drug and so on; and compare all consequences in order to highlight the excellent curative effect to murrain of them. At the same time, we also give some examples about treating the same disease with different therapies and treating different diseases with same therapies, and then reflect the flexibility of the treatment done by Lingnan physicians.Secondly, we draw assistance from large sample conditions,and selected integrity medical records which consistent with the request of data mining from them, then extract the imformation from those cases and do data pre-processing in accordance with certain standards, and make digital conversion. After that, we establishment a database using Access software based on that foundation; and try to dig out the characteristics and relevance of those diseases,symptoms, patterns of syndrome, therapeutical principles, prescriptions, drugs and other factors with the design of three different levels through some data mining methods such as cluster analysis, association rules, classification and regression ; and compare the analysis of each obtained results in coordination with the conclusion according to TCM literature research methods; and approach the applicability and technical superiority of different data mining methods; and Better to verify the feasibility of applying data mining technology to the ancient medical records of the study.At last, on the level of research methods , we make a comparison to the adaptivity and feasibility of the ancient medical records studies in a particular area by using the TCM literature research methods and modern data mining technology; and establish the foundation for the follow-up research that will done in a more expanded and further range. Combining the conclusion of traditional study, we hope that we'll be able to make a greater breakthrough in the study of ancient Lingnan medical records through the introduction of data mining these modern high-performance research methods. Not only providing the supplement for the further study of traditional Chinese medical history, but also furnishing information, reference and ideas to the future study of theory, methods, and clinical research.
