Objective The study is to investigate the expression of ERCC1 gene in primary epithelial ovarian carcinomas and the significance of the expression in the cisplatin resistance. The aim is to guide the clinical practice to forecast cisplatin sensitivity, chose chemotherapy regimen and predict prognosis. Methods The expression of ERCC1 was analyzed retrospectively by tissue microarray(8×5)technology and immunohistochemistry in 56 patients with the primary epithelial ovarian tumors and in 38 control subjects with normal ovarian tissues. The aim is to analyse the relationship of the expression of ERCC1 in ovarian cancers with cisplatin resistance, and with the clinical pathology of FIGO staging, pathotypes, cell differentiation, age of onset, cancer genesis parts and the onset of the tumors.Results1,The expression of ERCC1 was not closely related to FIGO staging, pathotypes, cell differdntiation, age of onset, cancer genesis parts and the incidence rate(P>0.05). 2,The positive rates of ERCC1 expression in epithelial ovarian cancer patients demonstrating chemotherapy resistance(76.67%) were significantly higher than those sensitive to chemotherapy(30.77%) (P<0.05).Conclusion1,In epithelial ovarian cancer the expression of ERCC1 has little significance on the FIGO staging, pathotypes, cell differentiation, age of onset, cancer genesis parts and the incidence rate.2,The expression of ERCC1 in epithelial ovarian carcinoma is related to cisplatin resistance,it shows predictive value to chemoresistance.
