Objective:Triple negative breast cancer is defined by a lack of expression of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and HER-2,and considered to be a clinicopathologic entity with aggressive behaviors and poor prognosis. This study was to analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of the patients with triple negative breast cancer for explore reasonable treatment of triple negative breast cancer. Methods:Collection of follow-up date of 389 cases of adjuvant chemotherapy patients after breast cancer modified radical mastectomy from Gastrointestinal & Gland surgical department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University among January 2000 to December 2007.By molecular biology subtype expression of PR, ER and HER-2 is divided into two groups, triple negative (TN) group that is triple negative breast cancer group of 86 cases , non-triple negativ (NTN) group consist of Luminal A, Luminal B and HER-2 over-expression of a total of 303 cases of breast cancer patients.Analysis clinicopathological characteristics of triple negative breast cancer group affect breast cancer recurrence, metastasis and death. Carrying chi-square test on each group of date by using SPSS 13.0 software.P<0.05 indicates significant difference. Results:There were 389 cases of breast cancer consistion of 86 cases of patients with TN and 303 cases of patients with NTN. There were twenty-two point one percent of patients with TN and seventy-seven point nine percent of patients with NTN constitution of breast cancer patients. The most of the patients with TN were premenopausal at diagnosis(88.4% VS 67.8%,P=0.010).The frequency of invasive ductal carcinoma and large tumor were higher in patients with TN than with NTN(90.4% VS 69.4%, 31.6% vs 21.5%, P=0.000,P = 0.03).Higher rate of lymph node metastasis and higher rate of positive expression of P53 were observes in patients with TN than with NTN (67.1%VS 45.1%,51.9%VS21.7%,P=0.000,P=0.000).There were no difference in age at diagnosis and clinical phases between the two groups(P>0.05 ). There were no difference in adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy between the two groups(P>0.05).There was significantly difference in endocrine therapy between the two groups ( P <0.05).Median follow-up time was 47 months,52 cases of local recurrence, distant metastasis in 48 cases and 34 cases of death. There were significantly difference in local recurrence and distant metastasis between the two groups(P<0.05).There was no difference in mortality between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Twenty-two point one percent of breast cancer patients in the team are triple negative breast cancer patients.2.These patients have usually invasive ductal carcinoma, with large masses and lymph node metastasis. These are biological basis of ivasive attacks.3.A higher rate of local recurrence and distant metastasis of triple negative breast cancer may be the main reason of poor prognosis of triple-negative breast cancer.
