| Epilepsy is a frequent complication of stroke. Post-stroke epilepsy(PSE) refers to no history of epilepsy before stroke,which occurred after stroke. Little is known about the epilepsy after stroke,In recent some studies presumed that early sei- zure after stroke is associated with hypoxia and ischemia,late seizure after stroke is associated with gliacyte regeneration. The seizure types of PSE and duration of seizure are associated with the types,position of stroke and size of focus. Mayor therapy to the early seizure after stroke is to treat protopathy for the serious patients and late out set epilepsy after stroke the first choice is to use Anti-epileptic drugs. This article reviews the epidemiology and mechanism of PSE,its clinical feature,therapy and the effect on the prognosis of patients. |
