| ObjectiveThe aim of this study is to understand the current development situation of health human resources in the Community Health Service Institution(CHSI)of the Key Contact Cities in China, analyze the comprehensive status quo of health workforce in CHSI, and compare the structure of health staff among the east,middle and west of China by using the methods of literature review and field survey. Summering up the experience of CHS development, and finding out the problems could provide scientific evidence for formulating policies and programming related to the development of community health, and to promote the healthy and further development of CHS in China.MethodsThis study used literatures review related to community health and field investigations methods to investigate the quantity,quality and structure of health workforce in CHSI of the key contact cities (districts), including 1917 CHSC and 5321 CHSS, by filling in the questionnaires. The database's setting-up and statistical anglicizing was completed by the statistical analysis software of Epi-Data 3.02, SAS 8.12 and SPSS13.0.Results(1) CHS has developed well. CHS network has basically established, but the development of CHS in the east, middle and west of China was imbalance, which needed respective guidance and rational allocation.In this study, a total of 7234 CHSI (including CHSC and CHSS) in 9763 CHSI have been completely constructed in the 29 key national contact city (district), the completion rate was 74.10%. In accordance with the household registration population, per 1000 population with community health professionals was 1.89, with 0.96 doctors, and with only 0.61 nurses; in accordance with the total resident, these variables were 1.45, 0.74 and 0.47 separately.
