Association Between Activin A, Inhibin A And Late Spontaneous Abortion

ObjectiveDetermine 168 gravida between 13-19 gestational weeks serum activin A and inhibin A concentrations through The Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA),to explore their contribution in late spontaneous abortion(threatened abortion, missed abortion, inevitabal abortion group);to explore the relationship between chotioamnionitis and activin A/ inhibin A.Methods168 gravida between 13-19 gestational weeks were divided into 4 groups:normal pregnancy group (control group),n=60; threatened abortion group,n=50;missed abortion group,n=36;inevitabal abortion group,n=22.Respectively determine their serum activin A and inhibin A concentrations;follow-up threatened abortion group's end-results;take missed abortion group's and inevitabal abortion group's fetal membranes for pathology scopy.ResultsThe activin A/ inhibin A of threatened abortion group were lower than control group(P<0.01).In the threatened abortion group, activin A and inhibin A of those who maintain to full term were higher than those who develop to premature delivery and abortion(P < 0.05) .Taken serum activin A<185.0pg/ml as critical value,the sensibility of forecast threatened abortion with failure outcome is 71.4.0%,while the specificity was 77.3%. Taken serum inhibin A < 98.0pg/ml as critical value,the sensibility of forecast threatened abortion with failure outcome was 76.7%,while the specificity is 78.0%.The activin A/ inhibin A of missed abortion group and inevitabal abortion group were lower than control(P<0.01).While the incidence rate of chotioamnionitis higher than the control group(P<0.01).The serum activin A concentration of chotioamnionitis group were lower than non- chotioamnionitis group(P<0.05). The serum inhibin A concentration has no significant difference between chotioamnionitis group and non- chotioamnionitis group(P>0.05).ConclusionThe activin A and inhibin A of late spontaneous abortion group (threatened abortion, missed abortion, inevitabal abortion)are lower than the control group ,they may predict the end-term of threatened abortion and play certain place in the diagnosis and prediction of missed abortion/ inevitabal abortion. The serum activin A concentration closely related with chotioamnionitis,can provid evidence to forecast and clinical diagnose the sub-clinical chotioamnionitis.
