Both Chinese medicinal materials and the compound preparation of herbal medicines , arc complex systems. the chemical compounds compositions with therapeutic efficiency are complicated. Although current quality standards contains microscopic, physical and chemical identification and content determination, it is still hard to achieve the quality control comprehensively. Fingerprint can reflect physical characterization and express intension of chemical compound of TCM system, then it can describe the integral system to positively control the quality of TCM, it is a common method and also consistent with global features of TCM.The aim of this thesis is to improve the quality of TCM, HPLC and GC were used to study fingerprint of Shuganhewei granules, the contents of Radix Hedysari Polysaccaride (RHPS) in Radix Hedysari was determined using HPLC methods. The main research works are as follows:1. The application and development of fingerprint of TCM are reviewed.2. HPLC and GC were used to study fingerprint of Shuganhewei granules firstly, the experiments showed there were 39 characteristic peaks, two characteristic peaks from Radix paeoniae Alba^ Bungarus Parvus, three characteristic peaks from Fructus Aurantii, four characteristic peaks from Dried Citrus peel, four characteristic peaks from Skullcap, seven characteristic peaks from Radix Bupleuri, five characteristic peaks from Glycyrrhiza, seven characteristic peaks from Radix Aucklandiae and Radix Curcumae. Combined with identification, content determination and main characteristic peaks, the quality of Shule hewei keli could be controlled completely.3. With the utilization of Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD), an Shodex ODS (250 mm×4 6 mm , 5μm ) column as analytical column and water as mobile phase, the contents of Radix Hedysari Polysaccaride (RHPS) in Radix Hedysari was determined using HPLC methodsfor the first time.
