The Relationship Between Gallstones And Serum Leptin As Well As Insulin

Objective To investigate the correlation between gallstones and serum Leptin as well as insulin.The purpose of this study was to identify the role of Leptin and Insulin in gallstone formation.Methods We select 32 patients with gallstone and 12 controls without cholecystolithiasis .All subjects were measured height and weight .Fasting serum TCH,TG,Leptin,insulin levels was measured by ELISA. Meanwhile Biliary compositions were assayed. With the consequence Cholesterol saturation index (CSI) in bile was calculated.Results (1) The blood Leptin Insulin ,TCH ,TG ,HOMA-IR, BMI, Bile CH, Bile TBA,Bile PL, CSI in patients with gallstone was significantly higher than those of normal controls.Against ISI HDL level were lower(p<0.05). (2) The positive correlation between serum Leptin and BMI, TCH, TG, FPG, CSI were found in gallstone groups. but negative correlation were found between serum Leptin and GGT, ISI. Simultaneously, The positive correlation between serum Insulin and FPG HOMA-IR, CSI were found in gallstone groups. Negative correlation were found between serum Insulin and GGT ISI (P<0.05). (3) The multiple factors stepwise regression indicated that Leptin and Insulin were independent effective factors in gallstone formation. Conclusion (1) Leptin and Insulin were found close correlation in the formation of gallstones.(2)There maybe some relationship between Leptin and Insulin induce the formation of gallstones together.
