Objective:To investigate the bionomics and clinical significance of chicken-skin mucosa and chicken-skin mucosa–positive colorectal adenomas of adults.Method:The expressions of correlation factors about apoptosis of Survivin and Caspase-3 were detected in samples of two different groups, which were normal colonic mucosa, adenomas, CSM-positive adenomas, adenocarcino- mas and normal colonic mucosa, CSM, mucosa surrounding with adenomas by immunohistochemistry.Results:1.In addition to one of the adult colorectal adenomas accompanying with CSM distributes in the descending colon, all the others come from re- ctosigmoid colon(96.8%). The diameter of adenomas are 0.3cm to 2.5cm, which exceeding 1.0cm are seventeen cases, accounted for fifty four point eight percentage.2.Survivin does not express in normal colonic mucosa, however, it expresses in adenomas, CSM-positive adenomas and adenocarcinomas. The positive expression rates were 33.3%,35.5%,61.8% respectively. The degree of Survivin staining in adenomas and CSM-positive adenomas was no statistical significance(p>0.05). Compared with adenocarcinomas, the positive expression rates of the two groups was different(p0.05). Compared with normal colonic mucosa, there were significant differences between every group. The positive rates of Caspase-3 in normal colonic mucosa, CSM, mucosa surrounding with adenomas were 80%,80.6%,75%, which were similar with each other(p>0.05).Conclusion:Chicken-skin mucosa is more commonly found in the distal colon and associated with more greater volume adenoma. Compared with commom adenoma, chicken-skin mucosa–positive adenoma dose not suggest a higer canceration rate. This abnormal mucosa probably is the result oflocal mucosal trauma, rather than a preneoplastic lesion.
