Objective:To observe apoptosis in placenta tissue of patients with preeclampsia and the relationship between BAX&XIAP and and their significance in pathogenesis of preeclampsia.Methods:30 Placenta samples were obtained from patients with preecl- ampsia(10 mild preeclampsia,20 severe preeclampsia),and control group were30 normal third-trimester pregnancies.Immunohistochemistry(S-P) me- thod was used to study the expression of BAX and XIAP in human placenta. Termianl deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate marker nick end labeling(TUNEL) was used to quantify the incidence of apoptosis.Results:(1)The apoptosis rate of preeclampsia group was higher than Control group.It was had significant difference between these two groups (P<0.001).With the aggravation of this illness the apoptosis rate was higher. It was had significant difference (P<0.001) (2)The expression of BAX in preeclampsia group was higher than control group (P<0.05). Preeclampsia group expression of Bax and the apoptosis rate were significant positive correlation (P<0.001)(3)The expression of XIAP of preeclampsia group was lower than control group Preeclampsia group expression of XIAP and the apoptosis rate were significant negative correlation (P<0.001)(6) Preeclam- sia group expression of BAX and XIAP were significant negative correlati- on (p<0.001)Conclusions:Apoptosis of the placental trophoblasts of preeclampsia human were heightened evidently .The expression of BAX increased and the expression of XIAP was reduced. The disequilibrium between BAX and XIAP may induce the occurrence of preeclampsia.
