| Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of the relationship among infants infected by cytomegalovirus and abnormal brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP).Method: We have collected 236 infants infected by human cytomegalovirus(HCMV), diagnosed by etiology and have taken BAEP in our hospital from May, 2007 to October, 2008. The results of BAEP were analyzed. Results: There existed relationship between patients infected by cytomegalovirus and abnormal BAEP. The rate of abnormal BAEP wave is 26.3%, and most of them are peripheral auditory nerve conduction pathway. Whether the BAEP normal or not has no relationship with the sex, inhabited environment and the age. Conclusion: The auditory nerve conduction was damaged in different extent in the infants with HCMV infection. BAEP monitoring is useful to find out hearing impairment early in the clinic. |
