ObjectiveTo study on the characters of the asthmatic children's behavior and the psychological status of their mothers, provide the evidence for the synthetical treatment and the early intervention in the clinic practice.MethodWe collected 96 asthmatic cases as observed group from affiliated Heji Hospital of Changzhi Medicine College and Heping hospital, and 96 cases of non-asthmatic children from Health Care Department of Heji hospital. Some factors were matched with asthma group which were age, sex, educational level, parents' educational level and family income. 96 asthmatic children and 96 normal children's temperament and psychological behavior were investigated by Chinese Children Temperament Scale (CCTS) and Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), their parents were investigated about their psychological status with Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90).All the scales were filled in by the mothers. We had analyzed the statistic with SPSS 15.0 version, and take with describe analysis, t test, chi-square, and logistic analysis.Result1,There were no significant difference in age, sex, educational level, parents' educational level and family income between the two groups.2,The behavior characters of the asthmatic children: The occurrence rate of behavioral problems was 38.5% in the asthmatic children, which was more prevalent than the non-asthmatic's 15.7%. The difference was significant (P<0.01). The scores of the asthmatic children in the somatization, dumps, anxiety, social intercourse flinch, disobeying were higher than that of the normal children's, while the social adaptive ability was lower. The difference was significant. (P<0.05). The occurrence rate of behavioral problems in the boys was higher than that of the girls, and the rate will increase with the children growing up and the disease extending.3,The temperament characters of the asthmatic children: The scores of the rhythm-ability, persistence in the asthmatic group were lower than that in the normal group, while the scores of the approach, reaction, mood, adaptability, attention-disperse in the asthmatic group were higher than that in the normal group, the difference was significant (P<0.05).The asthmatic children's rhythm was bad, their reaction was intensity and sensitive, they were easily acclimatize themselves to the new surroundings and things, but not permanent. The temperament types of difficult type, slow to warm up type and the intermediate-difficult type in the asthmatic group were more than that in the normal group, but there were no significant difference in the distribution of temperament type between the two groups (p > 0.05).4,The psychological status of the mothers: The scores of the parents' SCL-90 showed a great difference between two groups, which mainly in overall average, anxiety, depression, hostility, phobic anxiety, psychoticismo, the difference was significant(P<0.05).The psychological status was effected by the educational level, the status was worse whose educational level was lower.5,The result of the regression about the factors related with the asthma in children: The bronchial asthma in children was effected by their birth, feeding, temperament characters, family environment, et al. Asphyxiate, differential constitution, the difficult type temperament, and parents' hypersensitivity were risk factors, the easy type temperament, feed by breast-milk and the parents living disciplinary were protect factors.Conclusions1,Children with asthma showed more psychological problems than the normal children.2,Children with asthma were more negative than the normal children. As the asthma children's less movement, they often responded quite intensely to the foreign things, but the time they paied attention was quite short, and their attention was easy to disperse.3,The parents of the asthmatic children contributed to the development of psychological symptoms, e.g. anxiety, depression, hostility, et al.4,The bronchial asthma in children was effected by many factors. Asphyxiate, differential constitution, the difficult type temperament, and parents' hypersensitivity were risk factors, the easy type temperament, feed by breast-milk and the parents living disciplinary were protect factors.
