Objective:To investigate the value of MR susceptibility-weighted imaging(SWI) in the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of traumatic axonal damage(TAD).Methods : 30 cases, diagnosed or highly suspected as TAD(including brain concussion and diffuse axonal injury) with normal CT imaging or focus lies in untypical location (only few cases with typical focus) performed MRI examin.First underwent SWI and then follow routine MR(T2WI,T1WI,DWI or FLAIR T2WI)scanning.The characteristics of SWI were analyzed and compared with routine MR imaging in revealing the TAD, the detection rate of TAD in SWI sequence and normal MR sequence were calculated seperatively. Results:The TAD diagnosis rates of routine MR and SWI for the DAI lesion's number were 24.1%,100%; the DAI lesion-detecting rates were 42.1%, 100%.The DAI detection of SWI is significant higher than detecting rate of routine MR.Conclusion:SWI is now the most sensitive sequence in detecting TAD in traumatic brain injury.
