【Objective】(1) To find the morphological similitude of auricular cartilage and nasal alar cartilage by comparing their anatomical morphology, and to provide the anatomical basis for repairing of nasal alar cartilage defect using auricular cartilage.(2) To observe the clinical effect of repairing of nasal alar cartilage defect using auricular cartilage and to detect the advantages.【Method】(1) 20 sides of 10 cadavers were disseceted and Computed Tomography scan on the auricular cartilage and nasal alar cartilage abtained was undertaken. The data was imported into Mimics and three-dimensional reconstructions of the auricular cartilage and nasal alar cartilage were carried on.Anatomical measurement was conducted.Under the help of Mimics, the morphological similitude of auricular cartilage and nasal alar cartilage was analysed. (2) According to the observation on clinical cases, experience of repair of the nasal alar cartilage using auricular cartilage was concluded.【Results】(1) Parts of the auricular cartilage, such as cavity of auricular concha, intertragic notch, tragus, cymba of auricular concha, curs of helix and triangular fossa, are anatomically similar to nasal alar cartilage.Nasal alar cartilage can be replaced by part of auricular cartilage as clinically required.(2) Auricular cartilage is a good donor site for defect of nasal alar cartilage because of its good elasticity, rich supply and simplicity of dissection.【Conclusion】(1) Morphology of the cavity of auricular coneha, cymba of auricular concha, intertragic notch, tragus, curs of helix and triangular fossa are similar to that of nasal alar cartilage.(2) Repair of nasal alar cartilage using auricular cartilage with the similar morphology is reliable and advisable.
