The Protective Effect Of Autologous Septal Cartilage And Ear Cartilage Implantation In Apex Nasi In Plastic Surgery

Objective: To investigate the effects and application of autogenous auricular cartilage and septal cartilage nasal tip plastic surgery, and compare the postoperative effects with using polytetrafluoroethylene(ePTFE) as the filler material of the nose tip, according to conducting the auricular cartilage nasal and septal cartilage tip plastic surgery of poor tip shape and cleft lip 2 nose deformity.Methods: Different surgical techniques were applied according to the patients'nasal features, auricular cartilage and septal cartilage grafts used to reshape the nasal tip, or rhinoplasty used to add ePTFE prosthesis implantation, comparing with the postoperative effects and long term effects of nasal tip plasty which using ePTFE prosthesis implantation. We used the observation and measurement index to evaluate the postoperative effects, 3 months to 1 year of follow-up was conducted.Results: All the patients had the primary healing, no one had any complication, such as infection, grafts moving, grafts revealing and so on. The correction rate of cartilage grafts and ePTFE prosthesis implantation were 97.8% and 92.9% respectively (P>0.05), and there was no significant different. The complication rate of cartilage grafts and ePTFE prosthesis implantation were 2.2% and 15.4% respectively (P<0.05), and the difference was significant. Most patients were satisfaction with the postoperative effects.Conclusions: Suitable operative methods was choose according to the patients'nasal features, auricular cartilage and septal cartilage was used as a filler, and cartilage- ePTFE was applied for the patients who combined with low nasal deformity. Cartilage and ePTFE were used as fillers can make the reshaping nasal tip more normal and lively, and have a satisfactory long-term effects. Using cartilage had a lower complication rate than expanded material, it was worthy of clinic application.
