Objective To investigate the relationship between complement C5a and diabetic nephropathy. Methods The concentrations of plasma C5a and urine C5a was examined in 39 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,21 healthy volunteers served as controls. The relationship between complement C5a and UAER was analyzed.Resuts Compared with healthy controls, urine level of C5a was increased in the diabetic nephropathy group(11.44±21.17 vs 76.38±144.48,P=0.046),which was positively correlated with UAER.The diabetic course and urine C5a are the independent predictors of urine albumin excretion rate(r=0.378,P=0.023)Conclusion The activation of complements might involve in the pathogenesis of diabetic renal complication.
