Objective: The aim of our study is to investigate the association between lower urinary tract symptoms and erectile dysfunction in china mainland while considering multiple risk factors for EDMethod: A total of 1172 men in Fangcheng district who are older than 40 were enrolled in this study during they went to medical checkup as usual and all were asked to complete the questionnaire about IPSS and IIEF-5. Spearman rank correlation analysis and age-adjusted partial correlation analysis as well as the binary logistic regression analysis were used when explore the relationship between LUTS and ED. Age, alcohol consumption, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, fasting blood glucose level, dyslipidemia, hypertension, obesity were taken into account as potential confounding factors.Results:There is a positive association between LUTS and ED whether adjust for age or not. The multi-factor logistic regression analysis showed that the severity of lower urinary tract symptoms can predict the risk of erectile dysfunction。Compare with patients with none lower urinary tract symptoms, the risk of erectile dysfunction for patients with severe, moderate and mild symptoms is 3.962,3.177,1.310 times.Conclusion:Taking into account the relationship between LUTS and ED, we need to think about them both when we treat such patients. Only in this way, we can improve the treatment efficacy and to eliminate side reactions.
